On 26th December 1967 Mira Alfassa – The Mother decided to explain Sri Aurobindo’s spiritual epic poem SAVITRI in its true sense and began the work on 18th January 1968 under the title ABOUT SAVITRI (published in two volumes).
The Mother read out the chosen passages from SAVITRI in English language and then after a moment of meditation gave her explanations which were tape-recorded. Of these tape-recordings She gave ten recordings (including Her recitations and explanations of selected passages from SAVITRI) to Michel Montecrossa who, with Her blessings has established the FILMAUR Film-, TV and Multimedia Company in Germany, to produce the Audio-Book Series, the printed Book Series and the Download releases of these recordings as a supplement to the complete MEDITATIONS ON SAVITRI Movie-Series produced by Filmaur and the MEDITATIONS ON SAVITRI printed Book-Series published by Mirapuri-Verlag. The text passages from Book I, Canto 1 & 4, that are not included in the original recordings of the Mother’s recitations and explanations are published in Vol. II of about savitri in the written version.
The ABOUT SAVITRI Audio-Books cover The Mother’s recitations from Savitri, Book I, Canto 1 and Canto 4 together with Her explanations and Her own organ-music as well as music by Michel Montecrossa on ten Audio CDs or Downloads.
In Vol. I of the printed ABOUT SAVITRI Book Series the complete transcription of the ten ABOUT SAVITRI recordings is published, according to The Mother’s wish, along with some paintings by Huta Hindocha expressing the inspiration given by The Mother.
Vol. I of the ABOUT SAVITRI printed Book Series also includes a photo of Sri Aurobindo from the year 1950 when he wrote the last lines of Savitri and a collection of rare photos of The Mother from the time when the recording of Her recitations and explanations took place (1967 -1969).
The ABOUT SAVITRI Book & Audio Series thus is a precious Audio, printed Book and Images document of the unique and outstanding atmosphere of The Mother’s presence and consciousness in action which, together with the MEDITATIONS ON SAVITRI Movie- and Book-Series, offers a great and uplifting revelation of the meaning of Sri Aurobindo’s spiritual epic poem SAVITRI.
